The Government of Chile, with support from UNDP, will hold a regional workshop to exchange experiences and knowledge on developing ocean policies at regional and national levels on 27 July 2017. The event will bring together government officials and international organizations, regional experts, academics, scientists and NGO representatives, among others.

The workshop will address relevant issues at the national level, such as the establishment of a national ocean policy that will aim to create an instrument that will positively inspire future decision-making. This tool should seek to harmonize and give coherence to ocean-related issues, catalyzing government action, together with civil society and the private sector, among other goals, to implement Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 and the other SDGs directly related to it.
