Behavior
Male bettas are highly territorial and will fight other males. They display by flaring their gills and spreading their fins. Despite their aggression toward other bettas, they can be peaceful with other species in community tanks with proper setup.
Reproduction
Males build bubble nests at the water surface. After an elaborate courtship dance, the female releases eggs which the male fertilizes and places in the nest. Males guard the eggs until they hatch in 24-48 hours.
