Behavior

Angelfish are territorial cichlids that establish hierarchies. They become more aggressive when breeding. Despite their elegant appearance, they are predators that will eat small fish like neon tetras.

Reproduction

Pairs clean a flat surface and lay 100-1000 eggs. Both parents fan the eggs and guard the fry. Fry become free-swimming after about a week.
